Results from constituent survey on renaming Dixie State College to Dixie State University

I surveyed my constituents about how they felt on the proposal to rename Dixie State College to Dixie State University.

David, I had no idea about the specific and pretty convincing list of issues presented by the NAACP representative in your other thread. You made no mention of these issues in your poll; I didn't realize there was a racial controversy. I suggest you re-do your poll, with a fair reference to the other thread. I would personally vote No having now read that background. Those are not made up issues, and I think that making a statement with the name change would be good for the school and for the state.

Ted, I am now including links to the bill in the notice of survey. I have so many surveys that I need to do, I will probably not be able to go back and re-do any polls.

OK -- that makes sense. I would not read too much into your survey results in that case though. I think if people knew about the potential racial issue it would change your results significantly. I wouldn't cite the poll as a reason in your decision, for example.
