My first numbered bill "HB127 MOTOR VEHICLE EVENT DATA RECORDERS", has now come out and is beginning to move through the process. I wanted you to see it and get your feedback.
The objective of this bill is to extend 4th amendment protections against search and seizure to the data in your automobile's black box or data recorder. I want to make the law clear that you as the owner of the car, own that data and that it can't be taken from you without your authorization or a judge's search warrant. Each year the data recorder in your car, like the black box or data recorder in an airplane, gets more advanced and collects more data.
