On Saturday, September 14, 2013, Governor Gary Herbert reviewed and addressed the nearly 7,500 Utah National Guard Troops on Lou Andrus Field at Westlake High School in Saratoga Springs. This is an annual event that goes back 80 years. It is usually held at Camp Williams, but due to constriction it was held at Westlake High School. I suggested to several Generals and high ranking officials that they should make Westlake their home field because of the stadium seating and fields that are just down Redwood Road from Camp Williams.
Representative Val Peterson, who was recently promoted to General, led the parade of the troops. I took his photo in front of the modern equivalent of a M*A*S*H mobile army surgical hospital. It was 2 Hum-Vees that were configured as ambulances and a camouflage tent between them.
