RE: Re-elect Dave Lifferth to GOP State Central Committee
I hope that you would consider me as one of the four State Central Committee representatives from Senate District 11 and 13 in Utah County. You, along with the other Utah County Delegates elected me two years ago. I appreciate the trust that you showed in me and I hope that I have represented you well. Let me give you some important reasons why I hope that you would consider me for one of your four…

I had a chance to talk with Rob Smith of the Alpine School District this afternoon before the Alpine School District’s Mathletes Celebration at Westlake High School. This was the first celebration of Mathletes and I thought it was great to see their enthusiasm.
I asked him what are things that the Legislature could do to improve education in the classroom and what barriers could be removed that are impeding better education.
He told me things that surprised me…Continue

I had a chance to visit with Westlake Boy's State representative Michael McConkie. I was happy to contribute a few shekels to help him attend Boy's State later this year at Weber State. He was also one of the Boy Scouts that I was able to congratulate for earning the rank of Eagle Scout.

Since I work for you, I wanted to report how I did to represent you in the Utah State Legislature. This is my 'Report Card' that quantifies how I represented you. There are 75 State Legislators in the House of Representatives, so these rankings are against those other 75 legislators.

I had a good friend and constituent ask me to explain the process that I go through to decide how I will vote on the close to 1,000 bills that I need to evaluate during a legislative session.
First off, I have sworn to uphold both the Utah and U.S. Constitution. I weigh everything against the backdrop of “is this bill constitutional when evaluated against the Utah and U.S. Constitutions?”
There is lots of background that prepares me for voting on pending legislation. I have…Continue

Between all of the motions, voice votes, amendments, and regular votes I had to make over 1,500 votes during the 6-week legislative session. There was only 1 vote that I had my constituents emailing me, texting me, and calling me to vote differently than I did. The reason is that there were details and elements of the bill that most people were not aware of. In the end, I was 1 of 2 Republicans that voted for this in the house, even though every Republican in the Senate voted for it and…Continue

I regularly post my results on line for my constituents to see from surveys like this. I do this as a type of transparency, but my main objective is to generate discussion with constituents. Some of these survey questions may part of bills in the future and it is good to vet these issues sooner rather than later.
Frequently, these surveys are worded very poorly despite their effort to claim scientific and statistically sound results. In one I was supposed to pick the wording…Continue
