These are photos and th

I enjoyed having delegates ask me questions on my position on every imaginable issue. I had fun after answering a question by responding “ask me another and this time ask me something hard and quit pitching me softballs.”…

(photo of the crowd at Mountain View just as things got started)
Candidates for Utah County Republican Party leadership and State Central Committee we allowed to make speeches at a Meet the Candidate tonight at Mountain View High School. Because there are 71 candidates for the 20 open seats on the State Central Committee, each of us only got 40 seconds to…

These are the results from my survey that I have conducted on my site. This is not a scientific study, but it indicates that the people that took the time to tell a State Central Committee candidate how they feel. The results of this non-scientific survey of Utah County Republican Delegates is an indicator why HB116 (the Immigration Bill) is controversial. The results are almost evenly divided between repeal it and keep it.…

In addition to a sizable and growing collection of verbal commitments to vote for me on April 30th, I am compling written commitments as well.
Erin Madsen Leg. Dist. 56 Vice-chair:
I have known David for over a decade. As my Precinct Chair, City Councilman and my Mayor he has always worked with integrity and inclusiveness. He has proven himself to be a conduit of information to those he serves. I am proud to vote for him. Erin Madsen

One of the tools that I used effectively to represent my constituents when I was Mayor and a City Councilman was online surveys. While not scientific and 100% reliable, they were a good way to measure the will of the people.
I would not use a survey as the ONLY determining factor in how I voted. However, I weighed it heavily and frequently cited the results of…

(this is an email exchange that I had with a Utah County Delegate that won't vote for me)
[Dave]
I have read your stance on [HB]116 and your anti-Bennett role, and feel that you are not my kind of candidate for SCC. You have every right to feel as you do, but I just simply do not agree with you.
I am dreading the County Convention because I see a divisiveness that is not good for our party---or for our state.

What is your position on automatic or ex-officio delegates?
[DL] I think that we must be the strongest party in the State of Utah. We need to work together as a team to further our party platform. I see our elected officials as a strengthening and stabilizing force for our party. While I appreciate the enthusiasm and work that I and other precinct officers provide for the party, I think that we would be a weaker party by excluding the experience and wisdom of our elected state…
